This moment in time The LORD
is going to help us understand, a very very important action that
must happen in order for one to walk with The LORD God Almighty, The LORD Jesus
Christ and The Holy Spirit. This is known as Circumcision; and this
circumcision is not the usual and the normal one that goes on around various
places of the earth whereupon they use knives, crude weapons or even
sophisticated tools in the hospital etc but this is another
circumcision that is not done by the hands of man or man’s tools but by the
hand of The LORD.
So The LORD is going to help
us extract some very key elements that denote this special, unusual and
extraordinary circumcision: The circumcision of the heart.
The first key element
is that the ultimate circumcision is circumcision of the heart by the Spirit
(The Holy Spirit). So the common and the popular
circumcision that is normally done by the hands of man or man’s tools
essentially then becomes a very inferior form of circumcision that acquires the
status of an ordinary occurrence. This means that there is an
extra-ordinary, higher level, the ultimate form of circumcision that is not
done on the physical and outward but is done inwardly; and it is so special
such that it cannot be done by the mortal man’s hands or man’s tools but only
by the divine Hand of The LORD through The Holy Spirit. So the
circumcision of the heart is done by The Holy Spirit.
This is well expounded on in
the book of Romans 2:28-29 which states as follows: “A
person is not a Jew who is one only outwardly, nor is circumcision merely
outward and physical. No, a person is a Jew who is one inwardly; and
circumcision is circumcision of the heart, by the Spirit, not by the written
code. Such a person’s praise is not from other people, but from God.”
King David, the servant of The
LORD recognized the need for this circumcision of the heart, such that after he
had fallen into sin by committing adultery with the wife of Uriah, and then
Prophet Nathan came to rebuke him for his action, David went before The LORD in
Repentance by mourning and crying while pleading with The LORD to have mercy on
him and to forgive him and to circumcise His heart through the Holy Spirit. That’s
why we seeking David lamenting as stated in the book of Psalm
51:10-12 which states as follows: “Create in me a pure
heart, O God, and renew a steadfast spirit within me.
Do not cast me from your presence or take your Holy Spirit from me. Restore to
me the joy of salvation and grant me a willing spirit, to sustain me.”
So, “Create in me a
pure heart” essentially means: The circumcision of the heart. And
we find The LORD Jesus Christ Himself talking about the same in the book of Mathew
5: 8 which states: “Blessed are the pure in heart, for
they will see God”. This means that it is only when our hearts
have been circumcised by the Holy Spirit will we be able to see The LORD God
Almighty in Heaven, for then we shall have a pure heart and thus will attain
Holiness. This is because The LORD is also telling us in the book of Hebrews
12:14: “Make every effort to live in peace with all men and to
be holy; without holiness no-one will see the lord.”
The second key element
is that the praise of those who are circumcised at heart is not from man, but
from God. This essentially means that unlike the
ordinary circumcision which is done by the hand’s of man and the tools of man
and involves widespread celebration and praise from man (including villagers,
friends, family, age-mates and elders etc) for having attained this physical
circumcision, the circumcision of the heart will on the contrary
lead to most (if not ) of your friends, family, colleagues and neighbours
desert you; only The LORD will stand with you and praise you for having
attained the circumcision of the heart. This is well stated in the
book of Romans 2:28-29 which states as follows: “A
person is not a Jew who is one only outwardly, nor is circumcision merely
outward and physical. No, a person is a Jew who is one inwardly; and
circumcision is circumcision of the heart, by the Spirit, not by the written
code. Such a person’s praise is not from other people, but from God.”
The third key element
is that circumcision of the heart brings about Righteousness. Righteousness
means being right with The LORD and before The LORD and following His ways,
requirements and commandments. So, them who submit their hearts to be
circumcised by The Holy Spirit will attain Righteousness because they will thus
take to the Highway of Righteousness of The LORD God Almighty and will be obedient
and faithful before The LORD and will no longer just be hearers of The word of
The LORD but doers of The word of The LORD. This is well
expounded on in the book of Romans 2:13 which states as
follows: “For it is not those who hear the law who are righteous in
God’s sight, but it is those who obey the law who will be declared
righteous.” It is also extensively explained in the book of Romans
2 :17-27 which states as follows: “Now you, if
you call yourself a Jew; if you rely on the law and boast in God; if you know
his will and approve of what is superior because you are instructed by the law; if
you are convinced that you are a guide for the blind, a light for those who are
in the dark, an instructor of the foolish, a teacher of little children,
because you have in the law the embodiment of knowledge and truth— you, then,
who teach others, do you not teach yourself? You who preach against stealing,
do you steal? You who say that people should not commit adultery, do you commit
adultery? You who abhor idols, do you rob temples? You who boast in the law, do
you dishonor God by breaking the law? As it is written: “God’s name is
blasphemed among the Gentiles because of you.” Circumcision has
value if you observe the law, but if you break the law, you have become as
though you had not been circumcised. So then, if those who are not
circumcised (Physically) keep the law’s requirements, will they not be regarded
as though they were circumcised? The one who is not circumcised physically and
yet obeys the law will condemn you who, even though you have the written code
and circumcision, are a lawbreaker.”
So them who are circumcised at
heart attain The Righteousness of The LORD God Almighty, for then
they shall have a zeal based on the knowledge of The LORD God Almighty, and so
they will not lean onto their own understanding but will base themselves on the
knowledge, understanding and Righteousness that comes from The LORD God
Almighty. This is well stated in the book of Romans 10:1-4 which
states as follows: “Brothers, my heart’s desire and prayer to God
for the Israelites is that they may be saved. For I can testify about them that they
are zealous for God, but their zeal is not based on knowledge. Since they did
not know the righteousness that comes from God and sought to establish their
own, they did not submit to God’s righteousness. Christ is the end
of the law so that there may be righteousness for everyone who believes.”
The fourth key element
is that circumcision of the heart brings about Repentance that leads to eternal
life. This is because, them whose hearts are circumcised by
the Holy Spirit, they recognize their sins and they plead for mercy
before The LORD for the forgiveness of their sins and they turn away from sin
and seek the path of The LORD; the narrow road that leads to
eternal life in heaven. This is well stated in the book of Romans
2:5-7 which states as follows: ‘“But because of your
stubbornness and your unrepentant heart, you are storing up wrath against
yourself for the day of God’s wrath, when his righteous judgment will be
revealed. God “will repay each person according to what they have done.” To
those who by persistence in doing good seek glory, honor and immortality, he
will give eternal life.”’
The fifth key element
is that circumcision of the heart leads to the requirements, the ways and the
commandments of The LORD being written in the heart. So
wherever one is at, The Holy Spirit will remind them of what is
written on their hearts concerning the ways, requirements and the commandments
of The LORD and even scripture references. Jesus Christ Himself after
having been circumcised by The Holy Spirit (Full of The Holy Spirit) was
tempted by the devil and The Holy Spirit reminded Him of the ways, requirements
and commandments of The LORD God Almighty and scripture references and this is
well stated in the book of Luke 4:1-13 which states as
follows: ‘‘“Jesus, full of the Holy Spirit, left the Jordan and
was led by the Spirit into the wilderness, where for forty days he
was tempted by the devil. He ate nothing during those days, and at the end of
them he was hungry. The devil said to him, “If you are the Son
of God, tell this stone to become bread.” Jesus answered,
“It is written: ‘Man shall not live on bread alone.’” The
devil led him up to a high place and showed him in an instant all the kingdoms
of the world. And he said to him, “I will give you all their authority and
splendor; it has been given to me, and I can give it to anyone I want to. If
you worship me, it will all be yours.” Jesus answered, “It
is written: ‘Worship the Lord your God and serve him only.’” The
devil led him to Jerusalem and had him stand on the highest point of the
temple. “If you are the Son of God,” he said, “throw yourself down from here.
For it is written: “‘He will command his angels concerning you to guard you
carefully; they will lift you up in their hands, so that you will not
strike your foot against a stone.’” Jesus answered, “It is
said: ‘Do not put the Lord your God to the test.’” When the
devil had finished all this tempting, he left him until an opportune time.”’’
This is also well stated in
the book of Romans 2:15 which states as follows: “They
show that the requirements of the law are written on their hearts,
their consciences also bearing witness, and their thoughts sometimes accusing
them and at other times even defending them.”
It is also very well stated in
the book of Deuteronomy 6: 6-7which states as
follows: “These commandments that I give you today are to be upon
your hearts. Impress them on your children. Talk about them when you sit
at home and when you walk along the road, when you lie down and when you get up.”
The sixth key element
is that circumcision of the heart comes through faith in The LORD Jesus Christ
as a result of the justification that comes by grace. This
essentially means that by The LORD Jesus Christ being offered as a sacrifice on
the cross and shedding His blood for the atonement (Redemption/Restoration) of
mankind back to The LORD God Almighty, all mankind is entitled to
justification that comes by grace. But unless and until one exercises the act
of faith (believe) in The LORD Jesus Christ that is as a result of the
circumcision of the heart they are incomplete and so cannot claim that: “By
The LORD Jesus Christ being sacrificed on the cross then all mankind is now
saved”, as some deceptive doctrinal religious institutions and other
institutions and individuals are in the habit of claiming and preaching. And
so the truth is that Salvation only comes through faith in The LORD Jesus
Christ, and this is well stated in the book of Romans
3:21-26 which states as follows: “But now apart from
the law the righteousness of God has been made known, to which the Law and the
Prophets testify. This righteousness is given through faith in Jesus
Christ to all who believe. There is no difference between Jew and Gentile, for
all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God, and all are justified
freely by his grace through the redemption that came by Christ Jesus. God
presented Christ as a sacrifice of atonement, through the shedding of his
blood—to be received by faith. He did this to demonstrate his
righteousness, because in his forbearance he had left the sins committed
beforehand unpunished— he did it to demonstrate his righteousness at the
present time, so as to be just and the one who justifies those who have faith
in Jesus.”
Also in the book of Romans
3: 29-30 which states as follows: “Or is God the God of
Jews only? Is he not the God of Gentiles too? Yes, of Gentiles too, since
there is only one God, who will justify the circumcised (physical) by faith and
the uncircumcised (physical) through that same faith”
The seventh key element
is that the circumcised at heart will have a new self; the old self is done
away with; they are no longer slaves to sin but slaves to Righteousness. This
then is Revival; the epitome and the climax of Revival. This essentially means
that in the past, they were in bondage and chains to sin e.g. alcoholism, drug
addiction, sexual immorality, smoking of cigarettes, pornography, fits of
anger, gossip, showing partiality, hatred, bitterness, witchcraft, devil worship etc
and so they were in slavery to sin. But the moment that ones heart
is circumcised by The Holy Spirit, then they attain a new self because they now
seek Righteousness of The LORD God Almighty; and so they now become slave to
Righteousness. In slavery to Righteousness they follow the
requirements, the ways and the commandments of The LORD God Almighty, and they
pray, fast and even read the Word of The LORD (The Holy Bible) etc.
The reward and the beauty of
the Slavery to Righteousness is that it leads to eternal life in the Kingdom of
God Almighty in Heaven. Whereas slavery to sin leads to eternal destruction
(death) in Hell.
This is well stated in the
book of Romans 6 :6-7 “For we know that our
old self was crucified with him so that the body ruled by sin might be done
away with, that we should no longer be slaves to sin— because
anyone who has died has been set free from sin.”
Also in the book of Romans
6:17-18 which states as follows: “But thanks be to God
that though you used to be slave to sin, you wholeheartedly obeyed the
form of teaching to which you were entrusted. You have been set free from sin
and have become slaves to righteousness.”
Also as well in the book of Romans
6: 21-23 which states as follows: “What benefit did you
reap at that time from the things you are now ashamed of? Those things result
in death! But now that you have been set free from sin and have become
slaves to God, the benefit you reap leads to holiness, and the result is
eternal life. For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God
is eternal life in Christ Jesus our lord.”
