THE LORD IS CALLING FOR REPENTANCE, RIGHTEOUSNESS AND JUSTICE BEFORE HE CAN ACCEPT OFFERINGS AND SACRIFICES BROUGHT BEFORE HIM

Many a times, very many people everywhere have sought The LORD God Almighty, The LORD Jesus Christ and The Holy Spirit through prayer, petitioning, fellowship, praise and worship etc

The LORD is saying that before He can accept the offering and the sacrifice that comes through prayer, petitioning, fellowship, praise & Worship, Lamentation etc, He first requires Repentance for the forgiveness of sins, Righteousness and Justice.

Because of unrepentant sins and wickedness amongst the congregation and the worshippers, The LORD will not accept the offering and sacrifices of tithes and offerings etc that is offered by the unrepentant and wicked persons. This is because He requires Repentance of sins first to enable cleansing and washing away of the sins by the blood of Jesus Christ; and only then will He accept offerings and sacrifices. This is well stated in the book of Amos 5:21-22 which states as follows: I hate, I despise your religious festivals; your assemblies are a stench to me. Even though you bring me burnt offerings and grain offerings,  I will not accept them. Though you bring choice fellowship offerings,   I will have no regard for them.”

So anybody and everyone who goes before The LORD in prayers and petition and even gather together in a church service or home fellowship and yet has not Repented of their sins, The LORD cannot stand such a fellowship/service and infact He hates and despises such a religious ritual and service (gathering/assembly). This is very clear in the book of Isaiah 1:11-17 which states as follows:  “The multitude of your sacrifices— what are they to me?” says the Lord. “I have more than enough of burnt offerings, of rams and the fat of fattened animals; I have no pleasure  in the blood of bulls and lambs and goats. When you come to appear before me,  who has asked this of you,  this trampling of my courts? Stop bringing meaningless offerings! Your incense is detestable to me. New Moons, Sabbaths and convocations—I cannot bear your worthless assemblies. Your New Moon feasts and your appointed festivals  I hate with all my being. They have become a burden to me; I am weary of bearing them. When you spread out your hands in prayer, I hide my eyes from you; even when you offer many prayers, I am not listening. Your hands are full of blood! Wash and make yourselves clean. Take your evil deeds out of my sight;  stop doing wrong. Learn to do right; seek justice. Defend the oppressed. Take up the cause of the fatherless; plead the case of the widow.”

Any praise and worship and songs sang in such a place is actually noise before The LORD. And He will not listen to it. This is because The LORD first requires cleansing through Repentance for the forgiveness of sins; And thereby embracing Righteousness i.e being right before The LORD. And this means taking to the path of Righteousness where before one does anything, one asks himself/herself: “Is This Right And Acceptable Before The LORD?”

The LORD is also calling for Justice in the land. And so no one should be found opposing the poor and crushing the needy. No one should be found being given favourable judgment (decision) in the courts, place of work, school, Government institutions, churches etc due to bribes OR being favoured (shown partiality) due to their wealth etc.

This is very clearly stated in the book of Amos 5:23-24 which states as follows: Away with the noise of your songs!  I will not listen to the music of your harps. But let justice roll on like a river, righteousness like a never-failing stream!”

Also in the book of Amos 5:11-12 which states as follows: “You levy a straw tax on the poor and impose a tax on their grain. Therefore, though you have built stone mansions, you will not live in them; though you have planted lush vineyards, you will not drink their wine. For I know how many are your offenses  and how great your sins. There are those who oppress the innocent and take bribes  and deprive the poor of justice in the courts.”

You find this same message in the book of James 2:1-10 which states as follows: ‘“My brothers and sisters, believers in our glorious Lord Jesus Christ must not show favoritism. Suppose a man comes into your meeting wearing a gold ring and fine clothes, and a poor man in filthy old clothes also comes in. If you show special attention to the man wearing fine clothes and say, “Here’s a good seat for you,” but say to the poor man, “You stand there” or “Sit on the floor by my feet,” have you not discriminated among yourselves and become judges with evil thoughts? Listen, my dear brothers and sisters: Has not God chosen those who are poor in the eyes of the world to be rich in faith and to inherit the kingdom he promised those who love him? But you have dishonored the poor. Is it not the rich who are exploiting you? Are they not the ones who are dragging you into court? Are they not the ones who are blaspheming the noble name of him to whom you belong? If you really keep the royal law found in Scripture, “Love your neighbor as yourself,” you are doing right. But if you show favoritism, you sin and are convicted by the law as lawbreakers. For whoever keeps the whole law and yet stumbles at just one point is guilty of breaking all of it.”’

The LORD is also saying that any offering and sacrifice that is presented with (in) pride is not acceptable before Him. This is because He is calling upon everyone to walk in Humility. This is well captured in the book of Amos 4:4-5 which states as follows: ‘“Go to Bethel and sin;  go to Gilgal and sin yet more. Bring your sacrifices every morning,  your tithes every three years.  Burn leavened bread as a thank offering  and brag about your freewill offerings—boast about them, you Israelites,  for this is what you love to do,”declares the Sovereign Lord.”’

Also in the book of Amos 6:12-13 which states as follows: ‘“Do horses run on the rocky crags?  Does one plow the sea with oxen? But you have turned justice into poison   and the fruit of righteousness into bitterness—you who rejoice in the conquest of Lo Debar  and say, “Did we not take Karnaim by our own strength?”’

The LORD is also calling for Holiness. That only Him is to be worshipped; and so He is calling for a complete separation from the defilement by the world. He thus is calling for a blameless walk with Him; otherwise He might just cast the rebellious away (out) from His Holy presence and even plunge them into His consuming fire through His judgments. This is well captured in the book of Amos 5:26 which states as follows: ‘“You have lifted up the shrine of your king, the pedestal of your idols, the star of your god— which you made for yourselves. Therefore I will send you into exile beyond Damascus,” says the Lord, whose name is God Almighty.”’

In the same note The LORD is therefore calling upon everyone everywhere to seek Him and to serve Him in Righteousness and Holiness; because He is a Holy God who also is a jealous God and He cannot tolerate the worship of idols (other gods) which include the worship of money, the worship of jobs, the worship of false gods, the worship of fellow human beings (politicians, superstars) etc. The LORD actually desires a clear distinction, for He requires all to choose whom they are going to serve. This is well stated in the book ofJoshua 24:14-20 which states as follows: ‘“Now fear the Lord and serve him with all faithfulness. Throw away the gods your ancestors worshiped beyond the Euphrates River and in Egypt, and serve the Lord. But if serving the Lord seems undesirable to you, then choose for yourselves this day whom you will serve, whether the gods your ancestors served beyond the Euphrates, or the gods of the Amorites, in whose land you are living. But as for me and my household, we will serve the Lord.” Then the people answered, “Far be it from us to forsake the Lord to serve other gods! 17 It was the Lord our God himself who brought us and our parents up out of Egypt, from that land of slavery, and performed those great signs before our eyes. He protected us on our entire journey and among all the nations through which we traveled. And the Lord drove out before us all the nations, including the Amorites, who lived in the land. We too will serve the Lord, because he is our God.” Joshua said to the people, “You are not able to serve the Lord. He is a holy God; he is a jealous God. He will not forgive your rebellion and your sins.  If you forsake the Lord and serve foreign gods, he will turn and bring disaster on you and make an end of you, after he has been good to you.”’

So everybody everywhere on the planet earth must ensure that they uphold justice for all (including the poor) and that they Repent of their sins to be forgiven through the washing by the blood of The LORD Jesus Christ. And that they embrace Righteousness and Holiness lest the King, The LORD and the Prince of Righteousness, Justice and Holiness catch them off-guard; because He is coming to speed up the cause of the Righteous. This is well stated in the book of Isaiah 16:5 which states as follows: “In love a throne will be established; in faithfulness a man will sit on it—one from the house of David—one who in judging seeks justice  and speeds the cause of righteousness.

This King of Kings is actually the king of Righteousness and He upholds Righteousness. His name is The LORD Jesus Christ. This is well captured in the book of Isaiah 11:1-5 which states as follows: “A shoot will come up from the stump of Jesse; from his roots a Branch will bear fruit. The Spirit of the Lord will rest on him—the Spirit of wisdom and of understanding, the Spirit of counsel and of might, the Spirit of the knowledge and fear of the Lord—and he will delight in the fear of the Lord. He will not judge by what he sees with his eyes, or decide by what he hears with his ears; but with righteousness he will judge the needy, with justice he will give decisions for the poor of the earth. He will strike the earth with the rod of his mouth; with the breath of his lips he will slay the wicked. Righteousness will be his belt  and faithfulness the sash around his waist.”
