PRESSING ON TOWARDS HEAVEN: THE JOURNEY TOWARDS THE ULTIMATE GOAL

This moment in time The LORD God Almighty, The LORD Jesus Christ and The Holy Spirit is going to help us in understanding and plucking-out some very deep mysteries and meanings of the journey towards Heaven. A journey that everyone would want to partake of; but which has got grand requirements and guidelines in order for one to achieve the ultimate goal.

1- The first pluck-out is that for one to partake of this journey, and to serve The LORD on it, one must put The LORD Jesus Christ as their centre i.e. We should be Christ-centered. And so The LORD Jesus Christ must come first in our every sphere of concern, be it in our soul, spirit, mind, heart and body. He must become “the centre of our gravity” upon and around which our lives revolve around, depend upon and is based upon. Everything else must now acquire a secondary status for us: be it wealth, education, knowledge, friends, family, countrymen, job, pleasure e.t.c.

2- The second pluck-out is that for one to partake of this journey, and to serve The LORD on it, one must embrace Righteousness i.e. we must be right before The LORD. And this righteousness is acquired by us from The LORD God Almighty through faith in the LORD Jesus Christ as the ultimate sacrifice that was paid for atonement of the sins of those who believe in Him and walk right before Him i.e. in faith in The LORD Jesus Christ. The ultimate sacrifice that was presented by The LORD God Almighty when He offered His son The LORD Jesus Christ to shed His blood on the cross so that those who believe in Him shall not perish but have eternal life.

The first and the second items are well captured in the book of Philippians 3:7-8 which states as follows: But whatever were gains to me I now consider loss for the sake of Christ. What is more, I consider everything a loss because of the surpassing worth of knowing Christ Jesus my Lord, for whose sake I have lost all things. I consider them garbage, that I may gain Christ and be found in him, not having a righteousness of my own that comes from the law, but that which is through faith in Christ—the righteousness that comes from God on the basis of faith.”

3- The third pluck-out is that for one to partake of this journey, and to serve The LORD on it, one must know The LORD Jesus Christ. And only by knowing Him shall we be able to know His ways and requirements and then we shall find and continue to find favour with Him and before Him. And His presence will be with us wherever He sends us and wherever we are; we will thus operate in His power.

4- The fourth pluck-out is that for one to partake of this journey, and to serve The LORD on it, one must share in the suffering of Christ by denying ourselves and taking up our cross. Meaning that we must be ready to forgo and let go of many lifestyles, friends, comforts, habits etc that hinder our walk with The LORD. The flesh must thus be “killed”, so that we submit to the leading, guidance, cleansing, refining and sanctification of The Holy Spirit; because it is not by might nor by power, but by The Spirit of The LORD.

The third and fourth items are well captured in the book of Philippians 3:10-11 which states as follows: “I want to know Christ—yes, to know the power of his resurrection and participation in his sufferings, becoming like him in his death, and so, somehow, attaining to the resurrection from the dead.”
And also in the book of Exodus 33:13-14 which states as follows: ‘“ If you are pleased with me, teach me your ways so I may know you and continue to find favor with you. Remember that this nation is your people.” The Lord replied, “My Presence will go with you, and I will give you rest.”’

5- The fifth pluck-out is that for one to partake of this journey, and to serve The LORD on it, one must continue moving on, on this path (journey) regardless of obstacles and challenges that we may encounter while journeying towards Heaven. So we must press on towards the journey to Heaven.

6- The sixth pluck-out is that for one to partake of this journey, and to serve The LORD on it, one must humbly submit to The LORD and embrace the spirit of humility while journeying here. No pride or boasting is required here; because only the humble journey here as they move on towards entry into Heaven. This is because on this journey, it is only about The LORD and not about self righteousness.

7- The seventh pluck-out is that for one to partake of this journey, and to serve The LORD on it, one must know that the blood of The LORD Jesus Christ has sufficiently washed away all their sins; the past sins are completely washed away at that point when we went before The LORD in sincerity in our hearts and Repented of the sins and asked The LORD in humility to have mercy on us and to forgive us our sins. And so we became new creations; for then we became new vessels of The LORD. And so our focus is now on the future (Heavenwards) and not the past lifestyles, habits etc which were sinful before The LORD. We must thus now not go back to the lifestyle of sin but must now walk in Repentance, Righteousness, Holiness, Truth and Complete Surrender to The LORD Jesus Christ.

The fifth, sixth and seventh items are well captured in the book of Philippians 3:12-14 which states as follows: Not that I have already obtained all this, or have already arrived at my goal, but I press on to take hold of that for which Christ Jesus took hold of me. Brothers and sisters, I do not consider myself yet to have taken hold of it. But one thing I do: Forgetting what is behind and straining toward what is aheadI press on toward the goal to win the prize for which God has called me heavenward in Christ Jesus.

SHALOM!!!

Philippians 3:7-14 ‘“But whatever were gains to me I now consider loss for the sake of Christ. What is more, I consider everything a loss because of the surpassing worth of knowing Christ Jesus my Lord, for whose sake I have lost all things. I consider them garbage, that I may gain Christ and be found in him, not having a righteousness of my own that comes from the law, but that which is through faith in Christ—the righteousness that comes from God on the basis of faith. I want to know Christ—yes, to know the power of his resurrection and participation in his sufferings, becoming like him in his death, and so, somehow, attaining to the resurrection from the dead. Not that I have already obtained all this, or have already arrived at my goal, but I press on to take hold of that for which Christ Jesus took hold of me. Brothers and sisters, I do not consider myself yet to have taken hold of it. But one thing I do: Forgetting what is behind and straining toward what is aheadI press on toward the goal to win the prize for which God has called me heavenward in Christ Jesus.”’

SHALOM!!!

REPENTANCE PRAYER:

Precious Jesus,

I acknowledge today that you are LORD and savior of all mankind,

and today I have recognized my shortfall,

I repent and turn away from all sin.

Please cover me with your precious blood,

and establish your word in my life,

that I may be found in righteousness and holiness

and write my name in your book of life

and baptize me with the power of the Holy Spirit

in the mighty name of Jesus Christ.

Amen.

    1. Cry out to The Lord God Almighty in the name of Jesus. Only he can break the strongholds of the enemy and set you free. Read the word and pray to him and continue to seek his face until he answers you. He is strong and mighty and he is faithful and he loves you.

    2. Yes you can friend, You turn it off and you don't go there, the Lord will not allow you to be tempted beyind your abillity to stand. You are able to say no. Your eyes are a lamp unto your body, when you look at such things ( darkness ) it fills your body/mind with darkness. Look to Jesus, No one makes you waych it, you must be bold and refuse to watch it otherwise it will drag you down with it. As Kev says 'call out to Jesus' seek Him, His word, listen to worship and other distractions, what is the attraction of watching other people having sex, many of them traffiked and doing it against their will because they have to. Stand firm friend, fight the good fight. Stand and refuse to indulge, you have His strength within you if you are in Christ and the more you do it th easier it gets.
