UNLESS THE LORD BUILDS THE HOUSE, THE BUILDERS LABOUR IN VAIN. UNLESS THE LORD WATCHES OVER THE CITY, THE GUARDS STAND WATCH IN VAIN.

At this point in time we are going to take a spiritual journey, and in this journey The LORD is going to help us understand, comprehend and appreciate that indeed: Unless The LORD Builds The House, The Builders Labour In Vain. Unless The LORD  Watches Over The City, The Guards Stand Watch In Vain.

So it is very critical to note that when The LORD gives us resources, first by creating us and enabling us to have a soul, a spirit, a mind, a heart and a body, The LORD is essentially equipping us with the ultimate first equipment, tools and resources to be able to build and develop. The LORD is thus the foundation of any building, development and investment. He is the initiator of the process of building, developing and investing. The LORD is thus the Alpha and the Omega (The beginning and the end) of everything to be built, molded, developed or invested etc. This is very beautifully captured in the book of Revelation 1:8 which states as follows: “I am the Alpha and the Omega,” says the Lord God, “who is, and who was, and who is to come, the Almighty.”

So by His authority, The LORD God Almighty, The LORD Jesus Christ and The Holy Spirit gave human being (mankind) the authority to build, lead, manage, develop, and invest the very abundant resources on the earth. So it is very very important for human being to recognize the source of the authority that has been bestowed upon him; for when he/she does this then it will be well with him/her because he/she will give glory and honour Only to Him by whose authority, mankind is able to build, lead, manage, develop, and invest the very abundant resources on the earth. This is very powerfully captured in the book of Genesis 1:26 which states as follows: ‘“Then God said, “Let us make mankind in our image, in our likeness, so that they may rule over the fish in the sea and the birds in the sky, over the livestock and all the wild animals, and over all the creatures that move along the ground.”

So as we have noted, the first and the most critical resource that a human being has is the soul, the spirit, the mind, the heart and the body. But despite the fact that he has this most critical resource, the human being (mankind) still needs the breath of life to flow through him so as to be able to have the gift of life. This is the breath of The Spirit of God (The Holy Spirit). Every human being needs the Holy Spirit so as to be able to be alive; otherwise he/she is dead (a walking dead). The body, the soul, the spirit, the mind and the heart was specifically made and created by The LORD to be a temple of The Holy Spirit; a temple for worship of The LORD God Almighty, The LORD Jesus Christ and The Holy Spirit in Truth, in Righteousness, in Holiness, in Repentance and in Complete surrender to The LORD Jesus Christ. The body, the soul, the spirit, the mind and the heart is thus a place which should be a holy ground for the residence and the indwelling of The Mighty Holy Spirit; a temple for worship in Truth and in Spirit. This is very powerfully captured in the book of 1st Corinthians 6:19~20 which states as follows: Do you not know that your bodies are temples of the Holy Spirit, who is in you, whom you have received from God? You are not your own; you were bought at a price. Therefore honor God with your bodies.

So, this illustrates the centrality of The Holy Spirit in the operations and activities of mankind be it in building, managing, securing, investing, constructing e.t.c. The Holy Spirit is so critical such that any development, building, investing, securing, guarding that mankind is involved in and is void of The Holy Spirit is an activity in futility i.e. in vain. That’s why The LORD must be involved in any building, planning, development and investment. So any human being who wants to build, develop, invest etc must seek The LORD and the great move of The LORD through the anointing, the power and the nourishment of The Holy Spirit, so that The LORD Himself becomes the ultimate builder, developer, investor, constructor and planner in each and every project or activity that one is involved in so that it may be for the glory and honour of The LORD, and so that it may be meaningful otherwise, its an activity, a project in vain. This is very powerfully and very beautifully captured in the book of Psalm 127: 1 which states as follows: “Unless the Lord builds the house, the builders labor in vain……………………”

This building can be your career, your education, your marriage, your wedding, your business, your hobby, your ministry and yes; your eternal life (or of course eternal death) etc. So unless The LORD is glorified and honoured,  by seeking Him for His counsel and guidance it will all come to futility i.e. its is all in vain; and that includes even the life we live here on the earth. So if the life we live here on the earth is a life not perched and built on a foundation of The LORD, and built by The LORD Himself through His precious Blood, His Holy Fire and The anointing of The Holy Spirit that cleanses, refines, purifies, nourishes and sanctifies then it is a life that is all in vain hence such a soul lands in eternal death. On the other hand if we submit our soul, spirit, mind, heart and body to The LORD to build and develop by cleansing, refining, purifying, nourishing, testing and sanctifying then we will have the eternal life that comes from the throne room of The LORD God Almighty in Heaven. So if one goes through the struggles of this life regardless of how many years they live here on the earth, it will all be in vain if they have not submitted themselves before The LORD so that The LORD can build them in readiness for eternal life in Heaven; because they will actually be lost in eternal destruction and condemnation in hell and the lake of fire. That’s why, as we have read in the book of Psalm 127:1 which states as follows: “Unless the Lord builds the house, the builders labor in vain…………..”

So therein calls for wisdom when one is here on the earth. As we are busy building everything including our life, career, marriage, wedding, business, hobby, education, ministry e.t.c we must put The LORD at the centre of it all i.e. we must always humble ourselves before The LORD by seeking His grace, mercy, breakthrough, counsel, guidance and wisdom. The LORD must be the cornerstone of it all, so that the building can stand strong, endure and withstand the “bad weather”. This is very well expounded in the book of Acts 4:11~12 which states as follows: ‘“Jesus is “the stone you builders rejected, which has become the cornerstone.”  Salvation is found in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven given to mankind by which we must be saved.” So the wise ones are those who have centralized the presence of The LORD as they build; they actually rely on The LORD as their chief builder, by seeking and praying for His wisdom. This is very powerfully captured in the book of Job 28:20~28 which states as follows:  ‘“Where then does wisdom come from? Where does understanding dwell? It is hidden from the eyes of every living thing, concealed even from the birds in the sky. Destruction and Death say, “Only a rumor of it has reached our ears.” God understands the way to it and he alone knows where it dwells, for he views the ends of the earth and sees everything under the heavens. When he established the force of the wind and measured out the waters, when he made a decree for the rain and a path for the thunderstorm, then he looked at wisdom and appraised it; he confirmed it and tested it.  And he said to the human race, “The fear of the Lord—that is wisdom, and to shun evil is understanding.”

This calls for complete surrender of our soul, spirit, mind, heart and body and all that we have (and don’t have) to The LORD Jesus Christ, so that He becomes The Master and The LORD of our life: The Great Shepherd of our life, The Great Builder of our life. We thus need to surrender all to The Great Shepherd, so that He may shepherd us to the green pasture and the clear water that gives us eternal life. This is very beautifully captured in the book of Psalm 23:1~6 which states as follows: ‘“The Lord is my shepherd, I lack nothing. He makes me lie down in green pastures, he leads me beside quiet waters, he refreshes my soul. He guides me along the right paths for his name’s sake.  Even though I walk through the darkest valley, I will fear no evil, for you are with me; your rod and your staff, they comfort me. You prepare a table before me in the presence of my enemies. You anoint my head with oil; my cup overflows. Surely your goodness and love will follow me all the days of my life, and I will dwell in the house of the Lord forever.”’ This Great Shepherd that tends and leads the sheep to the living water that makes them not to thirst or hunger anymore is also very well captured in the book of John 4:10~14 which states as follows: ‘“Jesus answered her, “If you knew the gift of God and who it is that asks you for a drink, you would have asked him and he would have given you living water.” “Sir,” the woman said, “you have nothing to draw with and the well is deep. Where can you get this living water? Are you greater than our father Jacob, who gave us the well and drank from it himself, as did also his sons and his livestock?” Jesus answered, “Everyone who drinks this water will be thirsty again,  but whoever drinks the water I give them will never thirst. Indeed, the water I give them will become in them a spring of water welling up to eternal life.”

This Great Shepherd, The Great Builder is recognized by them who have humbled themselves and have embraced Repentance for the forgiveness of their sins through the precious Blood shed by This Great Shepherd so as to save these humble sheep from being lost for eternity at the hands of the wolves. These sheep that have thus humbled themselves before The Great Shepherd will then be walking in Righteousness, Holiness, Truth and Complete Surrender to The LORD Jesus Christ (The Great   Shepherd and The Great Builder). This is very powerfully captured in the book of John 10:7~16 which states as follows: ‘“ Therefore Jesus said again, Very truly I tell you, I am the gate for the sheep. All who have come before me are thieves and robbers, but the sheep have not listened to them. I am the gate; whoever enters through me will be saved. They will come in and go out, and find pasture.  The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy; I have come that they may have life, and have it to the full. “I am the good shepherd. The good shepherd lays down his life for the sheep. The hired hand is not the shepherd and does not own the sheep. So when he sees the wolf coming, he abandons the sheep and runs away. Then the wolf attacks the flock and scatters it.  The man runs away because he is a hired hand and cares nothing for the sheep. I am the good shepherd; I know my sheep and my sheep know me just as the Father knows me and I know the Father—and I lay down my life for the sheep. I have other sheep that are not of this sheep pen. I must bring them also. They too will listen to my voice, and there shall be one flock and one shepherd.”’

So when we completely surrender our lives to The LORD Jesus Christ and let go of a lifestyle of sin and wickedness which includes pride and building without The LORD, then now we can serve The LORD as His sons and daughters and servants. This is very well captured in the book of Luke 14:33 which states as follows: In the same way, those of you who do not give up everything you have cannot be my disciples.
This Great Builder is also The Great Protector of what has been built. So when the builders centralize The LORD as The Cornerstone of the building being built and as The Chief, The Principal, The Master Builder then no destruction or theft of the building occurs. The builders are those who have submitted themselves to The LORD and are now serving The LORD (The Master Builder) in whatever they partake of whether it being a ministry, a marriage, a career, a business, education etc by walking in purity before The LORD. They will for sure reap their reward for eternity. This is very beautifully and very powerfully captured in the book of Mathew 6:19~21 which states as follows:  Do not store up for yourselves treasures on earth, where moths and vermin destroy, and where thieves break in and steal.  But store up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where moths and vermin do not destroy, and where thieves do not break in and steal. For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also.”’
In the same context, it is very important to note that, we cannot have peace and rest in our lives if we decide to build alone and not include The Master Builder (The LORD) in it by surrendering our plans ( life) to Him for His guidance, wisdom and guidance. So no matter how “hardworking”, “committed” and “focused” we are in building our marriage, career, business, ministry, education, wedding etc, it is all in vain and we will not find peace and rest if we don’t surrender it all to The LORD so that He becomes the Centrality (The Rock) of our life. This is very powerfully captured in the book of Psalm 127:2 which states as follows: In vain you rise early and stay up late, toiling for food to eat—for he grants sleep to those he loves.
Many a times, especially right now across the globe and across families there is a lot of insecurity both at individual level and also at national and global level. The LORD is the one who sees everything including the things in secret places and the things done in secret. So every individual must now put their trust and hope in Him who watches everything, including the built resources. So we must thus surrender all to The LORD by submitting our soul, spirit, mind, heart and body to The LORD by embracing Repentance for the forgiveness of sins and turning away from sin, evil and wickedness and then walking in Righteousness, Holiness, Truth and Complete Surrender to The LORD Jesus Christ so that we be at peace and secure. So each and every household, town, nation and all human being must know that their hope, salvation and security comes only from The LORD and not the wealth, the influence, the friends, the family, the Government, the leadership, the security personnel, the technological gadgets and the technological advancement that they may be having. This is very powerfully captured in the book of Psalm 127: 1 which states as follows: “………………Unless the Lord watches over the city, the guards stand watch in vain.

Therefore, in conclusion: Unless The LORD Builds The House, The Builders Labour In Vain. Unless The LORD  Watches Over The City, The Guards Stand Watch In Vain.
