THE PRIESTHOOD ACCORDING TO THE ORDER OF MELCHIZEDEK

Every son and daughter of The LORD God Almighty that has been set apart for the glory and honour of The LORD by partaking of salvation through the precious Blood of The LORD Jesus Christ is a member of the Royal Priesthood. You don’t need to be a pastor or an apostle or a clergy etc to be a member of Royal priesthood. So long as you are born again (have received salvation) by having accepted The LORD Jesus Christ as your LORD, Master and Saviour you qualify to be a member of The Royal Priesthood.

The First point that we need to note is that it means that all the sons and daughters of The LORD, who are indeed the born again brethren attain the stature of the Royal Priesthood, because they now belong to The Kingdom of The LORD God Almighty in Heaven; The Kingdom of Priests: who serve and worship The LORD in Spirit and Truth. They are now the priests of God. This is very powerfully captured in the book of 1st Peter 2: 9-10 which states as follows: ‘“But you are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, His own special people, that you may proclaim the praises of Him who called you out of darkness into His marvelous light; who once were not a people but are now the people of God, who had not obtained mercy but now have obtained mercy.”’

The Second point that we need to note is that The King and the Chief High Priest of this royal priesthood is The LORD Jesus Christ. He stands in the gap for the atonement of sins for the sons and daughters of The LORD as they embrace Repentance for the forgiveness of their sins through the precious Blood of The LORD Jesus Christ. Meaning that He offers a sacrifice of Blood for the sins of mankind, and whoever accepts this sacrifice for the atonement of sins is enlisted into the Royal Priesthood. This sacrifice offered by The LORD Jesus Christ for the atonement of sins of mankind is the ultimate sacrifice, because it is the perfect sacrifice of the perfect Lamb without defect. Him who offers this ultimate sacrifice is Him who has overcome sin and thus offers the Perfect, the Ultimate and the Final sacrifice for redemption of mankind through the atonement (free payment for) of his/her sins. In the past, before this perfect sacrifice came into being, there was the sacrifice of animal blood by High priests chosen from among men; these High priests were themselves not perfect and even the sacrifice they used to offer was not the ultimate perfect offering. These High priests who were chosen from among men were themselves also required to Repent of their own sins even as they stood in the gap to offer sacrifice for the atonement of sins of mankind. This essentially means that these High Priests were themselves not perfect. So when The LORD Jesus Christ came to offer His Blood as the ultimate sacrifice for the atonement of sins of mankind, then Finally the Ultimate High Priest was now standing in the gap for mankind; the Messianic High Priesthood now came into effect to replace the Aaronic High Priesthood Order. The priesthood (the sons and daughters of The LORD who are now specially referred to as a Royal Priesthood) should now serve The LORD by directing people (their friends, families, colleagues, neighbours and everyone else) towards the kingdom of God and how to follow and adhere to the ways and the requirements of The LORD (The Righteousness, The Truth and The Holiness of The LORD) in preparing the way for entry into Heaven..This is very powerfully captured in the book of Hebrews 5: 1-3 which states as follows: ‘“For every high priest taken from among men is appointed for men in things pertaining to God, that he may offer both gifts and sacrifices for sins. He can have compassion on those who are ignorant and going astray, since he himself is also subject to weakness. Because of this he is required as for the people, so also for himself, to offer sacrifices for sins.”’

The Third point that we need to note is that The High Priesthood (Both the Messianic High Priesthood and the Aaronic High Priesthood) and the Priesthood (The sons and daughters of The LORD) is all for the glory and honour of The LORD God Almighty. They serve The LORD God Almighty for the glory and honour of His Mighty Name. This therefore means the call to humility as one serves and worships The LORD God Almighty. This Spirit of Humility is what every son and daughter of The LORD i.e. the priesthood of The LORD, should seek and inquire to have. Meaning that there is no room for pride and arrogance as one serves and worships the LORD; meaning that for those who serves and worships The LORD in Spirit and Truth, they embrace Humility. In other words they don’t exalt themselves, but only The Father in Heaven exalts them, for the glory and honour of His Mighty Name.  Even The LORD Jesus Christ humbled Himself and He was then exalted by The LORD God Almighty and His High Priesthood was then established forever and ever; a new, refined, perfect, ultimate, standard, heavenly and universal order of High Priesthood: The High Priesthood according to the Order of Melchizedek. This is very powerfully captured in the book of Hebrews 5: 5-6 which states as follows: ‘“And no man takes this honor to himself, but he who is called by God, just as Aaron was. So also Christ did not glorify Himself to become High Priest, but it was He who said to Him: “You are My Son, Today I have begotten You.” As He also says in another place: “You are a priest forever According to the order of Melchizedek”’. This is also very powerfully summarized in the book of 1st Peter 5: 6 which states as follows: ‘“ Therefore humble yourselves under the mighty hand of God, that He may exalt you in due time, casting all your care upon Him, for He cares for you.”’

The Fourth point to note is that the Royal Priesthood according to the order of Melchizedek should be a prayerful vessel who seeks The LORD and inquires from The LORD as he/she presents his /her prayer requests to The LORD God Almighty. So you and me as sons and daughters of The LORD and a Royal Priesthood needs to always pray and present ourselves before The LORD in prayer and The LORD will hear us; for He always hears the prayers of a Righteous soul. This is very powerfully captured in the book of Hebrews 5:7 which states as follows: ‘“who, in the days of His flesh, when He had offered up prayers and supplications, with vehement cries and tears to Him who was able to save Him from death, and was heard because of His godly fear.”’  The same is also very powerfully captured in the book of James 5: 16 which states as follows: “Confess your trespasses to one another, and pray for one another, that you may be healed. The effective, fervent prayer of a righteous man avails much.”

The Fifth point to note is that the royal priesthood according to the order of Melchizedek should be obedient to The LORD God Almighty by following the ways and the requirement of The LORD; because therein is the eternal salvation as a reward for those who are obedient to The LORD. Therefore you and me as sons and daughters of The LORD and as priesthood of The LORD according to the order of Melchizedek need to be obedient to The LORD by embracing Repentance for the forgiveness of our sins and thereby walking in Righteousness, Holiness, Truth and Complete Surrender to The LORD Jesus Christ in preparing the way for the coming of The LORD Jesus Christ. This is very beautifully and very powerfully captured in the book of Hebrews 5: 8-10 which states as follows: ‘“though He was a Son, yet He learned obedience by the things which He suffered. And having been perfected, He became the author of eternal salvation to all who obey Him, called by God as High Priest “according to the order of Melchizedek”’ 

The Sixth point to note is that The Messianic High Priesthood according to the order of Melchizedek is a higher order, because the Messianic High Priesthood traces His ordainment in the Kingdom of God in Heaven and He (The LORD Jesus Christ) brings Eternal Life to the sons and daughters of The LORD (The Royal Priesthood) as He continuously intercede for the sons and daughter of The LORD, and His High Priesthood having been directly ordained in Heaven in the throne room of The LORD God Almighty in Heaven is an everlasting High Priesthood and A Perfect High Priesthood that is Holy, Pure, Blameless, Glorious and brings Eternal Life forever and ever. This is unlike the Aaronic High Priesthood which involved men chosen and picked, and they were subject to various weaknesses of mankind (Remember, when Aaron led the people to make the golden calf?).  This is very beautifully and very powerfully captured in the book of Hebrews 7: 11-19 which states as follows: ‘“Therefore, if perfection were through the Levitical priesthood (for under it the people received the law), what further need was there that another priest should rise according to the order of Melchizedek, and not be called according to the order of Aaron? For the priesthood being changed, of necessity there is also a change of the law. For He of whom these things are spoken belongs to another tribe, from which no man has officiated at the altar. For it is evident that our Lord arose from Judah, of which tribe Moses spoke nothing concerning priesthood. And it is yet far more evident if, in the likeness of Melchizedek, there arises another priest who has come, not according to the law of a fleshly commandment, but according to the power of an endless life. For He testifies:  “You are a priest forever According to the order of Melchizedek.” For on the one hand there is an annulling of the former commandment because of its weakness and unprofitableness, for the law made nothing perfect; on the other hand, there is the bringing in of a better hope, through which we draw near to God.”’The same is furthermore also very well elucidated in the book of Hebrews 7: 20-28 which states as follows: ‘“And inasmuch as He was not made priest without an oath  (for they have become priests without an oath, but He with an oath by Him who said to Him: “The Lord has sworn And will not relent, ‘You are a priest forever According to the order of Melchizedek’”), by so much more Jesus has become a surety of a better covenant. Also there were many priests, because they were prevented by death from continuing. But He, because He continues forever, has an unchangeable priesthood. Therefore He is also able to save to the uttermost those who come to God through Him, since He always lives to make intercession for them. For such a High Priest was fitting for us, who is holy, harmless, undefiled, separate from sinners, and has become higher than the heavens; who does not need daily, as those high priests, to offer up sacrifices, first for His own sins and then for the people’s, for this He did once for all when He offered up Himself. For the law appoints as high priests men who have weakness, but the word of the oath, which came after the law, appoints the Son who has been perfected forever.”’

The Seventh point to note is that the sons and daughters of The LORD needs to aspire for Spiritual discernment and be wise by maturing to the level indicated by the  wisdom of The LORD. This comes through continuously relying on the Holy Spirit for teaching, correction, rebuking, humbling, cleansing, purification and refinement. This also entails relying on the word of God for sanctification and edification. This also indeed entails relying on The Holy Spirit for revelation of mysteries according to His Perfect Will, Perfect Plan and Perfect Timing. This is also very powerfully captured in the book of Hebrews 5: 11-14 which states as follows: ‘“of whom we have much to say, and hard to explain, since you have become dull of hearing. For though by this time you ought to be teachers, you need someone to teach you again the first principles of the oracles of God; and you have come to need milk and not solid food. For everyone who partakes only of milk is unskilled in the word of righteousness, for he is a babe. But solid food belongs to those who are of full age, that is, those who by reason of use have their senses exercised to discern both good and evil.”’ The same is also very powerfully captured in the book of Daniel 12: 9-10 which states as follows: ‘“And he said, “Go your way, Daniel, for the words are closed up and sealed till the time of the end. Many shall be purified, made white, and refined, but the wicked shall do wickedly; and none of the wicked shall understand, but the wise shall understand.”’ Yet the same is also very beautifully and very powerfully summarized in the book of Job 28: 27-28 which states as follows: ‘“Then He saw wisdom and declared it; He prepared it, indeed, He searched it out.  And to man He said, ‘Behold, the fear of the Lord, that is wisdom, And to depart from evil is understanding.’”

Lets us therefore partake of this very glorious and everlasting Royal Priesthood that The LORD has granted those who submit and surrender their lives to the Messianic High Priesthood (The LORD Jesus Christ) according to The Order of Melchizedek. The order that brings everlasting salvation through the precious Blood of The LORD Jesus Christ through Repentance for the forgiveness of sins and thereby walking in Righteousness, Holiness, Truth and Complete Surrender to The LORD Jesus Christ in preparing the way for the coming of The LORD Jesus Christ.

REPENTANCE PRAYER: 

Precious Jesus, 

I acknowledge today that you are LORD and savior of all mankind, 

and today I have recognized my shortfall,

I repent and turn away from all sin. 

Please cover me with your precious blood, 

and establish your word in my life,

that I may be found in righteousness and holiness 

and write my name in your book of life 

and baptize me with the power of the Holy Spirit 

in the mighty name of Jesus Christ.
