In the morning of 19th June 2013, I had a
spiritual encounter of The LORD. And in this very mighty dream of The LORD, I
found myself sitted amongst the congregation of a church.
And as I sat in this church, the pastor (minister) who
was ministering then said that it was now time to give offerings. And so the
basket went round amongst the congregation. And people removed and put their offerings
in the basket. And then the basket was forwarded in front of the altar. And then
the Pastor stood up and started saying: “When we remove offerings lets not remove
small amounts, because that will not help the church.” The pastor
went ahead and said: “If you removed this particular small amount
can you please raise your hand so that we know you.” And so I saw
people who had put an offering of this particular “small” amount carrying their
hands. And then the pastor condemned them and literary rebuked them to do
better next time.
The LORD under the inspiration of The Holy Spirit then
made me stand up and I told the pastor that I have something to tell him. I
then told him: ‘“People should remove offerings according to their ability and
according to their heart. What if the people who have removed this so called “small”
amounts; that is what they can afford to give. Where will the poor and the less
fortunate go for worship then if you insist that people should not offer the so
called small amounts?”’ I
then sat down.
After a short while, the person who was sitted next to me
in the church told me: “We had done a research and came up with
some guidelines on how people should give offering in the church and so you are
definitely wrong”. As I listened to him, I was made to understand
in my heart by The LORD, that: “This was a Religion spirit speaking to
me”. I then told this person who was sitted next to me: “Do
you remember the story of the poor widow who put in small copper coins?”
I then woke up from the dream of The LORD.
The first message that the LORD imparted in my heart from
the dream is to the pastors. And that
pastors and church ministers should not condemn and rebuke members of the congregation
who give what they (the pastors) consider “small’’. This is because:
that may be their ability. And that pastors should always know that what determines
what someone gives as an offering is: Their
ability and their heart. Otherwise where would the poor, the orphans and
the poor widows go to Praise and worship and give their offerings to The LORD?
The second message that the LORD imparted in my heart is
to the members of the congregation. The LORD is saying: Give your offering according to your ability and according to your heart.
Do not feel condemned or rebuked or belittled depending on what you are able to
give: The LORD who sees you
appreciates what you give as you give according to your ability and your heart.
The LORD does not see the “smallness “of what you give, He sees your ability
and your heart.

Mark
12:41-44 “Jesus sat down opposite the place
where the offerings were put and watched the crowd putting their money into the
temple treasury. Many rich people threw in large amounts. But a poor widow came and put in two very small copper coins, worth
only a few cents. Calling his disciples to him, Jesus said,
“Truly I tell you, this poor widow has
put more into the treasury than all the others. They all gave out of their
wealth; but she, out of her poverty, put in everything—all she had to live on.”
Luke 20:45-47 “While all the people were listening, Jesus said to his
disciples, “Beware of the teachers of the law. They like to walk around in
flowing robes and love to be greeted with respect in the marketplaces and have
the most important seats in the synagogues and the places of honor at banquets.
They
devour widows’ houses and for a show make lengthy prayers. These men will
be punished most severely.”
Mathew 23: 13-24 “Woe to you, teachers of the law and Pharisees, you hypocrites! You shut the door of the kingdom of heaven
in people’s faces. You yourselves do not enter, nor will you let those enter who are trying to. “Woe
to you, teachers of the law and Pharisees, you hypocrites! You travel over land and sea to win a single convert, and when you have
succeeded, you make them twice as much a child of hell as you are. “Woe
to you, blind guides! You say, ‘If anyone swears by the temple, it means
nothing; but anyone who swears by the gold of the temple is bound by that oath.’
You blind fools! Which is greater: the gold, or the temple that makes
the gold sacred? You
also say, ‘If anyone swears by the altar, it means nothing; but anyone who
swears by the gift on the altar is bound by that oath.’ You
blind men! Which is greater: the gift, or the altar that makes the gift sacred?
Therefore, anyone who swears by the altar
swears by it and by everything on it. And anyone who
swears by the temple swears by it and by the one who dwells in it.
And anyone who swears by heaven swears by
God’s throne and by the one who sits on it. “Woe
to you, teachers of the law and Pharisees, you hypocrites! You give a tenth of your spices—mint, dill and cumin. But you have neglected
the more important matters of the law—justice, mercy and faithfulness. You
should have practiced the latter, without neglecting the former. You blind guides! You strain out a gnat but
swallow a camel.”
2nd Corinthians 9:7-8
“Each
of you should give what you have decided in your heart to give, not reluctantly
or under compulsion, for God loves a cheerful giver.
And God is able to bless you abundantly,
so that in all things at all times, having all that you need, you will abound
in every good work.”

One thing to keep in mind is that Jesus was a Jew speaking to Jews in Matthew 23 and God was speaking to Jews in Malachi 3:9 not redeemed Gentiles. Under the New Covenant those in Christ are redeemed from the curse of the law and free to give as they decided or purpose in their hearts.
