This moment in time, The LORD
is going to help us understand in a deeper way the meaning and the essence of
two very key parameters/ “ingredients” for preparing the way for entry into
heaven: Righteousness and Holiness.
So we will begin with
Righteousness. And we will start by looking at what Righteousness entails:
1-Righteousness entails being in the will of The LORD. So those who
are righteous are in the will of The LORD i.e. they operate in the will of The
LORD by seeking and enquiring on the will of The LORD in every
situation.
Romans 12:2 “Do
not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by
the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what
God’s will is—his good, pleasing and perfect will.”
2-Righteousness
entails being obedient to The LORD. So those who are righteous are
walking in obedience to The LORD i.e. they follow The LORD’s
instructions.
1st Samuel
15:22-23 ‘“But Samuel replied: “Does
the Lord delight in burnt offerings and sacrifices as much as in
obeying the Lord? To obey is better than sacrifice, and to
heed is better than the fat of rams. For rebellion is like the
sin of divination, and arrogance like the evil of idolatry. Because
you have rejected the word of the Lord, he has rejected you as
king.”’
3-Righteousness
entails following the ways and the requirements of The LORD. So this
means walking on the path of The LORD and following His decrees and
commandments.
Exodus 33:13 “If
you are pleased with me, teach me your ways so I may know you and
continue to find favor with you. Remember that this nation is your
people.”
4-Righteousness
entails walking in the light of The LORD Jesus Christ.
So those who are
righteous are those who seek the light of The LORD and walk in it;
and so The LORD shines His light upon their soul, spirit, mind, heart and body.
They have thus put aside the
deeds of darkness. This we can read in the below bible verses:
Proverbs 4:18-19 “The
path of the righteous is like the morning sun, shining ever brighter
till the full light of day. But the way of the wicked is
like deep darkness; they do not know what makes them stumble.”
Proverbs 13:9 “The
light of the righteous shines brightly, but the lamp of the wicked is
snuffed out.”
John 3:19-21 “This
is the verdict: Light has come into the world, but people loved darkness
instead of light because their deeds were evil. Everyone who does evil
hates the light, and will not come into the light for fear that their deeds
will be exposed. But whoever lives by the truth comes into the light,
so that it may be seen plainly that what they have done has been done in the
sight of God.”
5-Righteousness
entails doing what is right before The LORD. So before those who are
righteous do anything or make any step, they ask themselves: “Is
this right before The LORD?”
Proverbs 21:3 “To
do what is right and just is more acceptable to
the Lord than sacrifice.”
6- Righteousness
entails knowing The LORD i.e. the righteous know The LORD for they
seek and inquire of Him.
Proverbs 18:10 “The
name of the Lord is a fortified tower; the righteous run to
it and are safe.”
So from the above, it becomes
very clear the essence of Righteousness in the walk with The LORD. So even
Moses, the servant of The LORD embraced Righteousness in His walk with The
LORD. So Moses sought and enquired of The LORD to teach him Righteousness so
that he could enjoy the benefits and the fruits of walking with The LORD in
Righteousness.
So in the below section
we are going to highlight and share the benefits and the fruits of walking in
Righteousness before the LORD:
(a)-Favour
before The LORD: Those who walk in Righteousness before The
LORD will find favour before The LORD.
(b)-Being
in the presence of The LORD: Those who are walking in righteousness
before The LORD will enjoy the presence of The LORD over their life and The
LORD will even hear their prayers.
Proverbs 15:29 “The Lord is
far from the wicked, but he hears the prayer of the righteous.”
(c)-The
glory of The LORD will be upon the Righteous i.e. they will be
touched by the goodness of The LORD and will tap into/from the goodness of The
LORD.
(d)-Mercy
and compassion of The LORD: The LORD will have mercy and compassion
upon those who walk with Him in Righteousness.
(e)-Those
who are Righteous will rest i.e. the peace of The LORD will be
upon them.
(f)-For
those who walk in Righteousness, The LORD will know them by name for
then they will be children and servants of The LORD.
(g)-The
Righteous have a long life i.e. the everlasting eternal life.
The below bible verses explain
this well:
1st Kings
3:14 “And if you walk in obedience to
me and keep my decrees and commands as David your father did, I
will give you a long life.”
Proverbs 11:30 “The
fruit of the righteous is a tree of life, and the one who is wise
saves lives.”
Proverbs 12:28 “In
the way of righteousness there is life; along that path
is immortality.”
(h)-The
Righteous are a royal priesthood; for they reign with the King of kings, The
LORD Jesus Christ forever and ever.
1st Kings
9:4-5 “As for you, if you walk before me
faithfully with integrity of heart and uprightness, as David your
father did, and do all I command and observe my decrees and laws, I
will establish your royal throne over Israel forever, as I
promised David your father when I said, ‘You shall never fail to have a
successor on the throne of Israel.”
1st Peter
2:9-10 “But you are a chosen people, a royal
priesthood, a holy nation, God’s special possession, that
you may declare the praises of him who called you out of darkness into his
wonderful light. Once you were not a people, but now
you are the people of God; once you had not received mercy, but now you
have received mercy.”
(i)- The
LORD feeds the Righteous not only on spiritual food but also on
physical food
This is well stated in the
bible verses below:
Proverbs 10:3 “The Lord does
not let the righteous go hungry, but he thwarts the
craving of the wicked.”
Mathew 6:28-34 “And
why do you worry about clothes? See how the flowers of the field grow. They do
not labor or spin. Yet I tell you that not even
Solomon in all his splendor was dressed like one of these. If
that is how God clothes the grass of the field, which is here today and
tomorrow is thrown into the fire, will he not much more clothe you—you of
little faith? So do not worry, saying, ‘What shall we
eat?’ or ‘What shall we drink?’ or ‘What shall we wear?’ For
the pagans run after all these things, and your heavenly Father knows
that you need them. But seek first his kingdom and
his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well. Therefore
do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about itself. Each day has
enough trouble of its own.”
Proverbs 15:6 “The
house of the righteous contains great treasure, but the
income of the wicked brings ruin.”
(j)-The
Righteous have the wisdom of The LORD and out of their mouth comes
wisdom.
Proverbs 10:31 “From
the mouth of the righteous comes the fruit of wisdom, but
a perverse tongue will be silenced.”
Proverbs 10:11 “The
mouth of the righteous is a fountain of life, but the
mouth of the wicked conceals violence.”
So to find out how Moses the
servant of The LORD walked with The LORD in Righteousness, let’s go to the book
of Exodus 33:12-19 which states as follows: ‘“Moses
said to the Lord, “You have been telling me, ‘Lead these people,’ but
you have not let me know whom you will send with me. You have said, ‘I
know you by name and you have found favor with me.’ If you are
pleased with me, teach me your ways so I may know you and continue to find
favor with you. Remember that this nation is your people.”
The Lord replied, “My Presence will go with you, and I will
give you rest.” Then Moses said to him, “If your
Presence does not go with us, do not send us up from here. How
will anyone know that you are pleased with me and with your people unless you
go with us? What else will distinguish me and your people from all the other
people on the face of the earth?” And
the Lord said to Moses, “I will do the very thing you have
asked, because I am pleased with you and I know you by name.” Then
Moses said, “Now show me your glory.” And
the Lord said, “I will cause all my goodness to pass in front
of you, and I will proclaim my name, the Lord, in your presence. I
will have mercy on whom I will have mercy, and I will have compassion on whom I
will have compassion.”’
In this next segment, The LORD
is going to help us in understanding Holiness.
Holiness means being
set apart for The LORD in purity and cleanliness of the soul,
spirit, mind, heart and body.
So, for one to attain this
purity and cleanliness, there has to be cleansing, purification,
washing up, refining, testing and sanctification through the blood
of The LORD Jesus Christ; the Holy fire from the throne room of Heaven and the
anointing of the power of The Holy Spirit.
This is the same purity and
cleanliness that David the servant of The LORD sought as is stated in the book
of Psalm 51:10-12 which states as follows: “Create
in me a pure heart, O God, and renew a steadfast spirit within me. Do
not cast me from your presence or take your Holy Spirit from
me. Restore to me the joy of your salvation and grant me a willing
spirit, to sustain me.”
So Holiness entails having
a pure and a clean heart.
It is very important to note
that only the Holy ones will be redeemed (Raptured into
Heaven). These are the pure and clean in heart. This is well stated in the book
of Isaiah 35:8-9 which states as follows: “And
a highway will be there; it will be called the Way of Holiness; it
will be for those who walk on that Way. The unclean will not journey on it; wicked
fools will not go about on it. No lion will be
there, nor any ravenous beast; they will not be found there. But
only the redeemed will walk there.”
At the same time and in the
same note, it is very important to remember that without Holiness no
one will see The LORD. This means that for one to see The LORD by being allowed
entry into Heaven, then they must be Holy i.e. having set
themselves apart for The LORD in purity and cleanliness of the soul, spirit,
mind, heart and body. And this is stated in the book of Hebrews
12:14 which states as follows: “Make every effort to
live in peace with everyone and to be holy; without holiness no one
will see the Lord.”
For one to attain Holiness, it
is also very important to note that their sins must be taken away (washed
away) by The LORD by them Repenting of their sins. That’s why Isaiah
the prophet of The LORD had to undergo this cleansing and
purification and Repentance of his sins so as to attain Holiness (Purity
and cleanliness) when he appeared before The LORD God Almighty during his call
by The LORD. So The LORD God Almighty is Holy and He
requires His servants and children to be Holy. All this is well
captured in the book of Isaiah 6:3-8 which states as
follows: ‘“And they were calling to one another: “Holy, holy,
holy is the Lord Almighty; the whole earth is full of
his glory.” At the sound of their voices the
doorposts and thresholds shook and the temple was filled with smoke. “Woe to
me!” I cried. “I am ruined! For I am a man of unclean lips, and I
live among a people of unclean lips, and my eyes have seen the
King, the Lord Almighty.” Then one of the
seraphim flew to me with a live coal in his hand, which he had taken with
tongs from the altar. With it he touched my mouth and said, “See, this has
touched your lips; your guilt is taken away and your sin atoned for.” Then
I heard the voice of the Lord saying, “Whom shall I send? And who
will go for us?” And I said, “Here am I. Send me!”’
It is also in the same breath
that when The LORD appeared to Moses and called Him, The LORD
immediately showed him the standard of Holiness and made him aware of The
LORD’s Holiness. This was an immediate message to Moses that he ought to be
holy by attaining the purity and the cleanliness of the soul,
spirit, mind, heart and body through cleansing, refining, washing up, purification
and sanctification. This is well captured in the book of Exodus
3:4-6 which states as follows: ‘“When
the Lord saw that he had gone over to look, God called to him
from within the bush, “Moses! Moses!” And Moses said, “Here I am.” “Do
not come any closer,” God said. “Take off your sandals, for the place
where you are standing is holy ground.” Then he said, “I am
the God of your father, the God of Abraham, the God of Isaac and the God
of Jacob.” At this, Moses hid his face, because he was afraid to look
at God.”’
